Energy Saving

Energy saving and energy efficiency are among the most important issues facing the wet leisure industry today. How can we help people save on the amount of energy they use to heat their pools, spas and hot tubs and therefore reduce their energy bills?

The wet leisure industry has looked to be more eco-friendly for many years but the energy crisis that the world finds itself in now has focussed everyone’s attention on spiralling energy costs and how to minimise their impact.

Energy prices had already started to increase in the second half of 2021 but on 1st April 2022 the price cap on energy in the UK was raised and domestic bills increased by as much as 54%. The cap is reviewed every six months and there is no reason to think that gas and electricity prices will come down. In fact, energy prices are set to continue to rise for the foreseeable future.

Golden Coast has 45 years experience in the business of energy efficiency for pools and spas. The first pool that David Adams – the founder of Golden Coast – built had a DIY solar heating system made from black alkathene pipe rolled up on the roof of the plant room. The first advert for Golden Coast featured solar panels and heat pumps. It just made sense, even back in 1977.

Retrofitting new technology to existing hot tubs and pools can make them more energy efficient.

In 2020 there was a massive increase in hot tub sales but can these new converts to the spa scene continue to afford to run their tubs?

At the same time there was an increase in new pool builds, both indoor and outdoor. The astronomical rise in gas and electricity prices will have a profound effect on the cost of running these pools.

What this means for the wet leisure industry is that there is large number of new pool and spa owners that dealers can return to in order to sell them on the benefits of energy saving products such as Duratech heat pumps, PoolCop pool automation systems or DEL polycarbonate slatted covers.

As energy prices rise, these energy efficient technologies become more and more attractive.

Very often these products work best when two or more are used in combination and so we have put together some suggested bundles for you if you follow the links below.

The Golden Coast sales team are organised by product specialty rather than by area and so we also tell you which member of the sales department can best help you with each technology.
